Updates: Medi-cal Coverage and CVS Pickup — Luna Flow Health Online Abortion

We’re excited to announce that we’re now accepting Medi-cal insurance to cover medication abortion costs!

We’ve been working with amazing organizations like Essential Access, Access RJ, National Abortion Federation, and Abortion Freedom Fund to help cover the cost of medication abortion for our patients seeking financial support.

We realize that not everyone wants to use their insurance for privacy or safety reasons. That’s why we’ll continue to work with our incredible partners and apply our sliding scale to meet patients where they’re at.

in march of 2024, cvs announced that it will directly dispense mifepristone from retail pharmacies

This was big news! Previously, mifepristone could only be obtained in a physical clinic or through a mail order pharmacy that shipped to their homes. Now that CVS directly distributes the medication, patients have more options. Many of the people we see continue to choose to have their pills shipped to their homes. For some people, it feels more private, or maybe it’s more convenient to pick up the pills directly from their local pharmacy. We recently registered with CVS so that our patients have this choice.

Typically takes 1-2 business days for pills to be ready for pickup.
Cost is completely covered by Medi-cal.
May have a small copay with private insurance companies, or if your insurance doesn’t cover the pill, it usually costs about $75 out of pocket.
